Counselling FAQ
Somatic, Attachment & Online Therapy in BC
Is online counselling as effective as in-person counselling?
Yes. Research has shown that online counselling is just as effective as in-person sessions. Many people even find it easier to open up when they’re in a familiar space. I use a secure telehealth platform called Jane that adheres to Canadian healthcare privacy laws, ensuring confidentiality and safety.
What is somatic therapy?
Somatic therapy is a body-based approach that works with both mind and body to process emotions, trauma, and stuck patterns. By noticing sensations, breath, and movement alongside thoughts and feelings, we create space for deeper healing and lasting change.
What is Sensorimotor Psychotherapy?
Sensorimotor Psychotherapy is a specialized type of somatic therapy that integrates body awareness with talk therapy. It’s especially helpful for trauma and attachment wounds, as it works with how the body holds and responds to past experiences.
Do you work with attachment wounds and inner child healing?
Yes. My approach often includes attachment-based counselling and parts work, where we gently connect with younger parts of yourself (sometimes called the inner child) to bring compassion, understanding, and healing.
Can therapy help if I live in a rural or remote part of BC?
Absolutely. Virtual counselling makes therapy accessible wherever you are in BC. Many clients in rural or small-town communities choose online sessions for privacy, flexibility, and convenience.
Do you work with digital nomads?
Yes. If you travel often or move frequently, online counselling allows you to maintain consistent support no matter where you are in the province—or even if your location changes often.
What’s the difference between in-person and online counselling?
Both are equally effective. In-person sessions are available in Squamish, BC, while virtual sessions allow clients across the province to receive the same compassionate care from the comfort of home.
What is your cancellation policy?
I require 48 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule your appointment. This allows me to offer the spot to other clients. If less than 48 hours’ notice is given, your credit card on file will be charged the full session fee.
Is counselling covered by insurance?
Many insurance companies cover counselling with a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) under extended health benefits. Please check with your provider to confirm. Clients are responsible for submitting receipts for reimbursement.
What are your fees?
My fee is $157.50 per 50-minute session. Payment is accepted by e-transfer/credit card. Counselling with a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) is often covered by extended health benefits.
Will the information I share in counselling be kept confidential?
Yes. Everything you share is confidential, with a few legal exceptions:
If you are at imminent risk of harming yourself or others
If a court requires disclosure by subpoena
If a child or elder is in need of protection
Can I follow you on social media?
Yes. You’re welcome to follow my professional Instagram and Facebook accounts. To protect confidentiality, I don’t interact with clients through social media, but you’re welcome to engage with my posts.
